This technology allows our Doctors extensive digital viewing
of often hard-to-see areas of a patient’s retina. Among other
things, this information is crucial when managing the retinas
of our diabetic and high blood pressure patients.
Once the digital images are taken, they are then filed for
future comparison and conveniently sent electronically to
update family doctors on the overall health of the eye, and
its implication for general health. |

This device rotates to our facility approximately every 2
months to deliver advanced technology for our glaucoma patients.
This device is the latest in glaucoma management, and is utilized
by our Doctors to pick up even the slightest loss of retinal
health due to glaucoma. |

Like a CT scan of the retina, this technology is very sensitive
in detecting optic nerve changes due to glaucoma. When this
information is coupled with other data taken during your eye
health examination, it allows our doctors to make timely and
accurate decisions in the treatment of glaucoma. |

Our office utilizes the “Humphrey Visual Field”. This device
is unanimously considered the industry gold standard for routine
glaucoma management. Although the GDX Nerve fiber Analyzer
is important for initial diagnosis and periodic evaluation,
the Humphrey Visual field allows for routine tracking of visual
loss.
Among other uses, we also utilize the Humphrey visual field
to annually track all patients taking plaquenil or tamoxafin. |

Our
office does not utilize the “air puff” for the measurement
of eye pressures. Eye pressures are measured for all of our
patients via a device called the Tonopen, or by Goldmann Tonometry.
These devices deliver more accurate and consistent eye pressure
data and allow better comparisons when treating many eye diseases.
Patients often comment on liking the new methods of eye pressure
measurement.
*(The air puff is still utilized for patients who are pregnant,
nursing or allergic to anesthetic eye drops). |
