Our History
The concept of McLean County Eye Center (MCEC) began on April 1, 1980,
with a small office of only 800 square feet of space and two full time
staff. After four and a half years, the practice grew to the extent
that additional space and staff were needed to handle the growing
patient influx.

Our Doctors
Dr. Jeffrey A. Huettemann
Dr. Jeffrey A. Huettemann graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Biology. He
received his Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Huettemann
completed his externship rotation at the Chicago Osteopathic Hospital with emphasis in Primary Care and
Ocular disease. Post graduate education has included instruction in advanced vision therapy, and extensive
training in Ocular Pharmacology for the treatment and management of eye disease.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Huettemann enjoys playing golf and biking with his family. He and his wife Jennifer have four children. The couple are actively involved with East White Oak Church in Normal.
Dr. David K. Landess
Dr. David K. Landess graduated from Illinois State University with Magna Cum Laude honors in pre-medicine.
He received his Doctor of Optometry with Magna Cum Laude honors from Southern College of Optometry.
During his training, Dr. Landess received various recognitions, including the prestigious "Clinician of the Year Award", and the "Lippencott-Raven Award" for Clinical excellence. Dr. Landess completed his externship rotation at Southern Eye Surgical Associates in Memphis, TN, where he received extensive training in current refractive surgery, cataract, and glaucoma management.
Dr. Landess and his wife Susan have four children. The couple is actively involved with Eastview Christian Church in Normal.
Dr. Jason A. Dunn
Dr. Jason A. Dunn graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL with Summa Cum Laude honors in biology.
He received his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He was inducted into Beta
Sigma Kappa for academic excellence, and he was also recognized for clinical excellence as a recipient of the
"Clinician of the Semester Award".
Dr. Dunn completed his institutional externship at William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC, where he received extensive experience on managing patients with diabetes, glaucoma and various other ocular pathologies. He also completed a rotation at Schulz Eye Care, a private practice in New Port Richey, FL that specialized in glaucoma. Dr. Dunn's training also focused on the treatment and management of macular degeneration and dry eye.
Dr. Dunn and his wife Mckenzi enjoy traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with their two dogs.
After Hours Service
24 Hour Emergency Service
McLean County Eye Center provides emergency eye service 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. Our on-call doctor may be reached
by dialing our office at 309-454-2472 and following the voice prompts to emergency service.
Emergency Service includes, but is not limited to:
- Treatment of ocular trauma
- Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
- Foreign body removal
- Corneal abrasion
Our normal office hours are:

We are closed Saturdays in July and all Saturdays that fall on a holiday weekend.
